About our mission

Our Vision

At the European MUN Society, we envision a unified and thriving Model United Nations community across Europe. Our mission is to celebrate excellence, promote transparency, and foster collaboration by providing an independent, comprehensive ranking of the continent’s best MUN conferences. We strive to empower delegates, organizers, and institutions with the insight they need to grow, connect, and raise the standard of debate and diplomacy across Europe.

How do we rank

We use a clear criteria-based approach to ranking Model UNs in Europe. This includes the quality of the background guides and the focus on the topics covered, thus ensuring outstanding and enriching events.

Moments of hope and solidarity in action

    Our Ranking

    1.HNMUN

Harvard Model United Nations (HNMUN) is one of the most prestigious and competitive MUN conferences in the world, hosted annually in Boston by Harvard University. Although it does not rely on MyMUN for its reputation, HNMUN is internationally recognized for its excellence, attracting top high school delegates from over 60 countries. The conference features around 30 to 35 committees, ranging from traditional General Assemblies to highly specialized and crisis committees, offering a wide range of difficulty levels. Its background guides are exceptionally detailed and professionally curated by Harvard undergraduates; they are often regarded as some of the most comprehensive and academically rigorous in the MUN circuit. With a delegate count exceeding 4,000, HNMUN is one of the largest MUNs globally. A significant portion of those participants—typically over 1,500—are placed in intermediate or advanced committees, making it a prime destination for experienced debaters seeking high-level engagement. HNMUN is especially notable for its academic quality, elite delegate pool, and global prestige, making it a hallmark experience in any MUN career.

    2. LIMUN

London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) is the largest and one of the most renowned university-level MUNs in Europe. It scores very highly on MyMUN, with delegates praising both the scale and diversity of the event. LIMUN typically offers around 18 committees each year, encompassing a wide range of topics and experience levels, including many intermediate and advanced options. The background materials provided by LIMUN are extensive; delegates receive a combination of general research guides, procedural explanations, and detailed committee-specific study guides, making preparation clear and effective. With total attendance ranging from 500 to 800 delegates, and a significant proportion of the committees designed for experienced delegates, around 250 to 400 participants are typically placed in medium and advanced tracks. LIMUN is especially appealing for those looking to be part of a large, internationally diverse, and well-organized conference.

    3.WORLDMUN

Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) is the flagship university-level MUN conference organized by Harvard University, known globally as the “Olympics of MUN.” Unlike many other conferences, it rotates host cities each year in partnership with local universities—past European editions have been held in cities such as Rome, Madrid, The Hague, and Paris. Although WorldMUN is not listed on MyMUN due to its independent prestige, it is widely regarded as the most elite and internationally diverse university-level MUN in the world. The conference typically offers around 20 to 25 committees, which include General Assemblies, ECOSOC bodies, regional and specialized agencies, and several crisis simulations. The quality of its background guides is consistently high, curated by Harvard’s experienced Secretariat and designed to challenge even advanced delegates through multi-dimensional, interdisciplinary analysis of global issues. WorldMUN hosts approximately 2,000 delegates from over 100 countries, and its committee structure ensures that a large majority—roughly 1,200 to 1,500—are placed in intermediate to advanced tracks. The conference combines high-level debate with an unparalleled cultural exchange, making it a must-attend event for serious MUNers seeking a truly global and intellectually rigorous experience.

    4.IEUMUN

IE University Model United Nations (IEUMUN) is one of the leading MUN conferences in Spain, hosted by IE University—a globally recognized institution with a strong international relations and law faculty. On MyMUN, IEUMUN enjoys a steadily growing reputation, consistently praised for its professionalism, innovation, and the global diversity of its delegate pool, thanks in part to IE’s large international student body. The conference typically offers 8 to 10 committees, covering a wide range of topics and skill levels, including several specialized and intermediate-to-advanced bodies such as the UN Security Council, ECOSOC, and regional or historical simulations. The background guides are well-structured and academically solid, developed under the guidance of IE professors and student chairs, often integrating current legal, political, and economic frameworks—especially in areas related to business, sustainability, and tech governance. IEUMUN usually gathers 300 to 400 delegates, with about half placed in medium to advanced committees, making it particularly attractive for university students who seek rigorous but accessible debates in a highly professional setting. Held at IE’s Segovia and/or Madrid campuses, IEUMUN offers a unique blend of academic excellence, internationalism, and innovation, positioning itself as a rising star in the European MUN circuit.

    MUN RANKING

    World MUN Ranking

How did we elaborate on the ranking?

Points were assigned to delegates based on the type of award received at each university’s MUN conference. Each award category (Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Honourable Mention, and Diplomatic Commendation) was given a fixed base point value. These points were then adjusted using the corresponding conference multiplying factor shown above. The final total score for each delegation was calculated by multiplying the base award points by the relevant conference multiplier and summing the results across all conferences.

Every team gets 5 additional points for every conference where they participate and receive at least 1 award

This ranking has been elaborated with available public information and data supplied by teams and MUN conferences. They may be subject to change if we receive further information. If you wish to send us your conference or team results, please contact us via: info@europeanmunsociety.eu
